Poignancy is felt in the air here, but the same waters are now lucid and lovely, jutting up against moss-covered boulders and rocks that seem to dance between shadow and light. 4,000 acres of tranquility are enhanced by a steep but worthwhile climb up 133 steps, where you’ll be presented with 360-degrees vistas that practically beg to be captured. Plants abound on its Lookout Trail and Ethnobotanical Trail, but as “cloud supreme” (to which ‘Iao’s Hawaiian name translates), do know it’s best to arrive in the morning before the fog arrives. "Room was quality of a Motel 6\. I had fingernail clippings from someone else in the bathroom (several). It was outdated, smelly, the pool overlooked the cruise boats, our rooms overlooked a parking lot with wires hanging all over the place. Then we had to pay an xtra $52 a night for parking and amenities. Why this is rated a 8.8 on Expedia?"

"We booked this place when our flight was cancelled and there was no place closer to the airport available or accessible due to flooding. I wish we had more time to enjoy it. The staff was nice enough to wave the resort and parking fees and gave us some credit for breakfast under the circumstances. It was an amazing place with multiple pools and had live flamingos of all things. Definitely plan to stay here next time we are in Maui. "

"Parking was available at all times. Good restaurant on site with very reasonable prices for Maui. If you are looking for a resort with top of the line room service and amenities, this is probably not the place for you. I went to Maui to see Maui, not stay in a hotel room the whole time. We were there only about nine hours every night, just enough time to catch a shower and a good nights sleep. If you are this type of person, than this place is affordable, safe, and clean without breaking your wallet. I would definitely stay here again."
